About Contra Costa County:
The County of Contra Costa,
California was incorporated in 1850
as one of the original 27 counties
of the State of California with the
City of Martinez as the County Seat.
It is one of the nine counties in
the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area.
The County is the ninth most
populous county in California, with
its population reaching
approximately 930,000 as of January
1, 2000.
The
County has one of the fastest
growing work forces among Bay Area
counties, with growth in its
employment base being driven
primarily by the need to provide
services to an increasing local
population. Due to the presence of
relatively high-wage skilled jobs
and relatively wealthy residents,
the County achieves high rankings
among all California counties on a
variety of income measurements.
Contra
Costa is among the top counties in
the nation with the most congested
roadways...TMC (too many cars). This
is a huge point of contention in our
county.
Contra Costa County is made up of
the following cities:
Alamo, Antioch, Bay Point, Bethel
Island, Blackhawk, Brentwood, Byron,
Clayton, Concord, Crokett, Danville,
Discovery Bay, El Cerrito, El
Sobrante, Hecules, Kensington,
Knightsen, Lafayette, Martinez,
Moraga, Oakley, Orinda, Pacheco,
Pinole, Pittsburg, Pleasant Hill,
Richmond, Rodeo, San Palo, San
Ramon, Walnut Creek.
Contra Costa means "coast opposite"
(SF). On the map, the current county
boundary lines resemble a "watchdog"
directly facing the Golden Gate.
Contra Costa is one of the original
27 charter counties of California
created on February 18, 1850.
CCC
has three major regions: West (from
SF Bay - Richmond to Martinez)
Central (from Pleasant Hill to Bay
Point), and East (from Bay
Point/Pittsburg to Discovery Bay/
Byron)
We are connected to SEVEN other
counties, one by land (Alameda) and
the other six by water.
Point Richmond faces direct west
toward the Golden Gate Bridge.
Richmond ranks #1 in the state (#12
in the nation) as "most dangerous"
in "Safest City Awards" crime
survey. A recent front page headline
decried, "Richmond longs for
transformation". Casino style
gambling is in San Pablo. Pray that
TRANSFORMATION indeed comes to
(Richmond) CCC.
The 680 Corridor runs straight
through our county. San Ramon Valley
is home to Bishop Ranch - a large
tech center. Pray for true Christ
Centered Marketplace Ministry to
break forth all through Contra Costa
especially at its HEART in our tech
centers.
"Mt. Diablo" has been a geographical
point of much controversy since its
naming through a mistranslation of
Spanish to English. This mountain
sits at the center of CCC and has
been used to set survey lines up and
down the state of California (called
the Mt. Diablo meridian) Pray that
this mountain will be renamed to
honor God and His creation.
Pittsburg/ Antioch share the
distinction of being the "Gateway to
the Delta" - and the rich (alluvial)
soil of the Central Valley as our
borders are at the confluence of the
two major rivers of California;
Sacramento and San Joaquin
accounting for almost 50% of the
water of California. Pray that these
two cities will come together to
work and to share the responsibility
at this "gateway" in our state. And
that all 19 of our cities recognize
and appreciate the uniqueness that
each one brings to the whole.
Prayer focus for Contra Costa
County:
1. Continued Unity among the
Churches & Pastors -Pray that unity
leads to strategic action from these
groups. (Holy Spirit work in/
through us to fulfill the prayer of
Jesus in John 17 and the "two
greatest commandments" to LOVE GOD
and LOVE ONE ANOTHER thus fulfilling
all the law and commandments and
begin to come together and alongside
to assist each other for our
cites/county)
2. Prayer mobilization in all
the cities -pray for the
multiplication of new believers,
leaders and churches that leads to
societal transformation. (through
the developing of relationship
within the Body of Christ of Contra
Costa County and to the rest of the
state in every sphere of influence -
holy connections and alliances)
3. Alignment of the
Transportation & Construction
industry with Godly Leaders. Pray
God’s protection over the
transportation systems. Waterways,
airways, railways, roadways. Our
ports and harbors.
4. Decrease of crime: Murder,
Teen Pregnancy, Abortion, Domestic
Violence, drugs. Youth/Gangs - Pray
for a revelation of the Father's
Heart and a spirit of adoption for
youth using Malachi 4:6. Pray for
the church to (rise up and) engage
these youth and families with the
transforming gospel. Pray that all
"territorial boundaries" perpetuated
by political spirits be torn down in
Contra Costa) Richmond is in a state
of emergency. It recently had 8
Murders within several weeks. They
are requesting prayer for the high
rate of murder in the city.
5. Revival for the Churches
and a Spiritual Awakening to Christ
in the cities. Please pray that
ministries of CCC who honor Christ
will come together in the spirit of
psalm 133 and John 17 to honor one
another. That we will not be
separated on the watch/wall. That we
will no longer have disregard for
what other ministries are doing
either through neglect of
relationship or ignorance. That all
personal Kingdom Building comes to
an end and we join to build God's
Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
6.
Pray for REVIVAL to come to all of
Contra Costa
7. Pray for Christian
marriages to be a witness of life in
Christ. Pray for marriage to be
affirmed and protected in this
County.
8. Pray for Schools and the
Educational System to become open to
Christ. That Fathers and Mothers of
students will take personal
responsibility for what happens on
their child's school campuses. That
God will raise up prayer warriors
from among students, parents,
teachers and administrators to
prayer walk their campuses. That
prayer will be welcomed on the
school campuses of CCC. That school
boards will move in the fear of God
.
