Located in Northern California,
Placer County serves over 300,000 residents from its border with
Sacramento County to the Nevada state line. County communities
include Roseville, Lincoln, Rocklin, Loomis, Auburn, Foresthill,
Colfax, Tahoe City, and Kings Beach. Placer County is a county
located in California's Sierra Nevada, in the Gold Country. It
stretches from the suburbs of Sacramento to Lake Tahoe and the
Nevada border. Because of the expansion of the Sacramento
metropolitan area, Placer County is one of the fastest growing
counties in the state. As of 2000, the population is 248,399.
The county seat is Auburn.
Review of Concerns & Needs:
First, here is input from Pastor Carmichael, specifically for
Roseville, who is the designated forerunner for Placer County:
I think my concern for Roseville is the distraction of
"busy-ness". It seems that people are so busy with the "visual
now" that we tend to miss the "urgent invisible". Maybe there is
still some "gold fever" here. We pray, but still lack the
ability to connect together. I am also concerned about abortion
and our supreme court nomination. We have Planned Parenthood
here in Roseville which services Placer County and we need much
prayer to stand against this stronghold. The flow of innocent
blood feeds the demonic which in turn empowers the deception of
the gay agenda and much more. If we cannot see what's under our
own noses how will we ever affect things on a national level?
Excerpt from Pastor Carmichael
Concerns for Placer County as a whole: Submitted By Pam: Please
pray for the Grace of God to cover our county and for an
outpouring of His Anointing and Spirit. Now more than ever
Placer Co. is experiencing an extremely strong battle for our
youth.
There is heavy witchcraft, which is headed by a wiccan that
lives and runs a business in our local town of Loomis. She is
extremely influencial and conducts rituals and gatherings with
up to 300 or more wiccans each year here in Placer Co. and in
Nevada Co. History has opened a window for this spirit in Placer
Co., which began in the late 1800's and early 1900's with the
mistreatment of the local Native Americans by the early Finnish
and European settlers and then with the Chinese and Japanese
people who worked here. There were many sins on the land and
rituals of witchcraft by those who lived here, most of which
happened on the main roadways (Taylor Rd.), running throughout
the towns of Rocklin, Penryn, Loomis, Newcastle, Colfax, and
Auburn. Today, just along this stretch of road from Rocklin and
Newcastle, there are six taverns, the wiccan's business, and at
least three palm readers. Since my moving here 14 years ago,
there has been a major increase in youth deaths on this road
from drug and alcohol use, and there has been tragic deaths and
accidents of our police officers and young children because of
substance abuse. Today, at least 85% of the high school students
have tried or are using drugs and alcohol. The internet is a
major tool for these students to arrange for parties involving
sexual conduct, drugs, and alcohol use. More importantly, many
of these kids are from good Christian families and many parents,
Christian and non-Christian, do not even know that their kids
are involved in these practices. Many of these youth are
rebelling, leaving home, and are going from home to home; and
there are many who are making illegal drugs right under their
parents' noses.
This is just a brief history and update as to the emergence of
what is taking place here in Placer Co. The spirit of witchcraft
is attempting to steal and destroy our youth, and it is so much
more prevalent today than ever. Your prayers for our county is a
divine appointment from God as many of us are praying and
warring for our county and for our youth.
Now, speaking from the victorious side of the battlefield: There
are churches throughout this county that are uniting together in
prayer each month. Please pray for wisdom and the annointing of
God to be poured out upon them. There are prayer walkers who are
lighthouses for their neighborhoods, praying weekly for their
areas. There are prayer warriors and intercessors crying out for
God's Grace, love and forgiveness upon those who are lost and
for the many other "religions" of this spirit that prevail in
this area, such as the wiccans, buddhists, mormons, and muslims.
The Lord has spoken over this area that we, His Children, are to
love these who are lost by not coming against them, but by
blessing them with the Knowledge and changing Power of His Holy
Spirit. The Lord has called this county, "a Place of Healing...a
Hospital for those who are sick." He has spoken that people will
be healed, not by the spring waters of this natural land as the
Native Indians thought, but by His Living Water that springs
forth from His Spirit. The Lord has spoken that we are to call
out His original purposes for the cities within this county,
which are called by His Name: Rocklin (the Rock of Jesus
Christ); Loomis (the Fruit of His Spirit); Penryn (the Wells of
Living Water); Auburn (the Glory of His Presence and the Purity
of Gold); Lincoln (the Clay from which He molds us in His
Image); Roseville (the rose that represents His Son); Newcastle
(the Gateway to God's Holiness); and Tahoe (the Mountain of God
from which flows pure living water).
Prayer Focus (not listed by order of priority as they are
all priorities):
Our youth: Taking back what the enemy has stolen; standing
against the spirit of witchcraft over our youth; God's
protection and Grace for the youth; the return of the prodigal
sons and daughters; salvation for those youth who are lost;
annointing to be poured out over our youth; a passion, a
mindset, and a desire for the things of Christ in our youth; for
the youth in Placer Co. to turn to God and take their place in
God's Perfect Plan and Will for their lives; and a cry for Mercy
over the youth who are bound by the deceit of the enemy and who
are in bondage with drugs, alcohol, and sexual activities.
A call for the original purposes of our cities to be
re-established and for the land to be cleansed, forgiven,
healed, and prepared for the setting up of God's Holy Throne
within our cities. God bring Mercy, and forgive us for the sins
of those before us and thank you for the prayers of those of
have carried this county prior to us. Placer Co. lifts You up as
Lord and Savior of the cities of Gold.
Strength, Unity, and Holiness among the spiritual leaders,
intercessors, and pastors of the churches of Jesus Christ in
this county; a mutual vision and a passion to unite as one for
the purposes of God in this county; a re-newed love and passion
for Christ and His Children as well as the lost; a laying down
of busy-ness to become busy for God's moment of action; and to
have the mindset and heart of God.
Praying for those who are within our church families as well as
those who do not know Christ who are afflicted with cancer and
other diseases. Pray for strength, peace, and quick recovery for
those afflicted. Pray for miracles!
Crying out for the unborn children being abused and murdered in
this county, as well as the children living in families who are
being abused; and for the homeless children who are among our
cities even now without fathers or mothers or homes. Crying out
for healed families, marriages, and parent/child relationships
who are in conflict and who are already separated and divided
from one another.

“ May the Great Grace of Christ Jesus and a host of holy angels
fall upon this county. I pray for supernatural power encounters
to go forth as God manifests His power and love for the lost in
this part of the state. Lord, I pray that those caught up in the
strongholds of witchcraft and wicca will have a revelation of
your love that will break the power of witchcraft in their
lives. I pray the message of the Cross which is the power of God
to save (I Cor 1:18) will receive a new release in this area! I
pray for the sick to be healed, the captives to go free, the
broken hearted to be healed, the blind to receive their sight.
Lord, we pray for the unborn children and ask you to protect the
mothers and babies in this county. We pled your blood for the
shedding of innocent blood upon the land. We ask you to release
new destiny in the lives of pregnant women in this county. May
so much grace be poured out upon those drawn to the abortion
clinic that they will turn back to life. Let’s declare the
favorable year of the Lord to go forth in this county. Lets
declare the gold rush spirit will be replaced by a God Rush
called forth by the Holy Spirit. Amen!”
History Pray for a New Wine of God’s Grace to flow from this
County
Placer County was created from parts of Sutter and Yuba Counties
in 1851."Placer" is probably a contraction of the words plaza de
oro (the place of gold) and in Spanish means "a place near a
river where gold is found." The county derived its name from the
numerous places where the method of extracting gold from the
earth, called placer mining, was practiced.
Agriculture has long been an important part of the develop of
this county. The growing of wine grapes led the way for this
farming. Placer County's wine history is among the most
interesting and significant in the foothills of the Sierra
Nevada, and arguably the rest of California as well. The story
of winemaking and grape growing in Placer County has ties to
some of the most historic events in California. Winemaking began
early in California at the Spanish Missions, but only became a
large commercial enterprise after James Marshall's discovery of
gold in 1848.
It was the dramatic increase in
the population of California during the Gold Rush that ignited
the state's fledgling wine industry. The very year gold was
discovered in California, the first grape vines were planted in
what was soon to become Placer County. It seems only fitting
that the father of Placer County viticulture should be none
other than Claude Chana, the Frenchman who discovered gold in
Auburn Ravine in 1848. Earlier that same year Chana traveled
down to Mission San Jose where he obtained 200 cuttings of the
Mission grape, the only variety available in California at that
time. The Mission vines were established at the ranch of fellow
Frenchman, Theodore Sicard, who had settled along the south bank
of the Bear River near Johnson's Rancho. Chana later purchased
Sicard's Ranch and by 1860 had planted some 80 acres of vines.
Previously Chana had manufactured only small quantities of wine,
but he eventually went into the wine business on a grand scale.
By 1870 he was producing 12,000 gallons of wine annually.
Although Chana was the first to cultivate the grape vine, he was
not the first one to make wine, that honor belongs to Stephen
Burdge, an Italian-trained winemaker who originally obtained
cuttings from Sutter's Hock Farm, near Marysville. By 1854,
Burge, who had settled 4 miles northeast of Lincoln had produced
a small vintage, the first in Placer County, and perhaps the
first in the Sierra Foothills.
In 1860, the first year for which any figures are available,
Placer County produced 722 gallons of wine. At the time, wine
was being produced in extremely limited quantities and was
intended for home use, with very little being sold on a
commercial basis. Within a very short time, however, as the
easily worked gold deposits were depleted, many men who had been
miners began seeking new ways of making a living. One of the
most popular occupations was the planting of vineyard and
orchards. By 1867 winemaking in Placer County had reached
commercial levels, that year some 22,550 gallons of wine were
produced. Some of the most important early wine districts were
located in Applegate, Auburn, Doty's Flat, Lincoln, Rattlesnake
Bar, Stewart Flat and Virginia Town.
Placer County also played an important part in the early
distribution and cultivation of the Zinfandel grape in
California. As early as 1855 two of the county's residents were
growing Zinfandel. James Nickerson of Lincoln and George W.
Applegate of Applegate had both obtained cuttings from New
Englander Wilson Flint who was selling nursery stock in
Sacramento. James Nickerson was, for many years, Placer County's
leading vintner and grape grower. Beginning in 1859 his exhibit
at the state fair in Sacramento contained one of the most
extensive collections of grape varieties in California. By 1871
Nickerson was operating one of the largest wineries in the
Placer County and his wines were receiving top awards at several
agricultural fairs.
