About San Mateo County

San Mateo is located below San Francisco to the north, San Jose to the south and the East Bay to the east. Redwood City is the County Seat. San Mateo has a population of over 680,000 people making it the 11th most populated city in California. San Mateo County is home to the San Francisco International Airport. The transportation industry accounts for 34% of jobs. Construction at San Francisco Airport, BART transit system have helped the construction industry grow 71% in the past year.

 

San Mateo County was named after Saint Matthew, who in his gospel, presents Jesus as the reigning king.

Pray that:

San Mateo County take it's designed place of being under the rule of Christ.
 

San Mateo County is a proud county. We're proud of our wealth, proud of our accomplishments, our education, and our businesses. Our wealth and real estate values are one of the highest in the nation. We have also had high rates of divorce and alcoholism. God intends our County to be a County which exports great wealth and resources for the kingdom of God around the world.
 

Please intercede for us so we come into the generosity the Lord intends for our resources, for a spirit of love and humility. "All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 5:5.
 

Since God "opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble" please do identificational repentance on our behalf. Then pray for a spirit of humility to characterize the Church and then transform San Mateo County so we become known as servants who lead in love and generosity. Pray that Christ gain His complete inheritance in San Mateo County so every square inch and every soul will come to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Pray for San Mateo County to reflect and become a place where the glory of God dwells.
 

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians. 2:5-10
 

Please pray that the authority of Christ, the love of Christ and the power of Christ will so infuse San Mateo County that He will possess His inheritance, filling the Church and this area with the fullness of His presence and glory. "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way." Ephesians 1:18-23

The County has been divided into 7 sectors to have a person with apostolic and pastoral leadership, shepherding over each area. Currently, only 3 sectors have a servant-leader over each area. Pray for God to identify His leaders who have a heart for the unity of the body of Christ, and a commitment to bringing the rule of the kingdom of God over the whole area:

*schools and education
*churches
*government and neighborhoods.

Ask for God to call His shepherds into committed work together across denominational lines to minister to the whole area and the whole Body of Christ, the Church of San Mateo County.

There are about 325 churches that believe in Jesus as the Savior and Lord in San Mateo County. Our church attendance is at about 4%. So we still have hard ground here spiritually. Some cities have pastors who meet with pastors from their cities. Few pastors meet with the County Pastor's and Intercessor's prayer group. Pray that God raise up those shepherds with a commitment to prayer as foundational. Pray that God removes a spirit of independence and competition among pastors and raises up the leadership for them to shepherd areas rather than only individual congregations. Ask God to bring a spirit of unity among pastors. Ask God to bring a spirit of unity among the people of the Body of Christ in the County.

Ask God to bring transformation to our area:

• to raise up the Marketplace leaders to prepare for the coming move of God in a Harvest of Souls

• to raise up leaders in schools and education

• to raise up kingdom-of-God minded public servants in government

• to raise up His leaders among young people and children.

San Mateo County has one of the highest areas of ethnic diversity in the nation as measured by number of primary languages spoken by children in public schools. Pray that God bring ways of bringing unity in diversity to the body of Christ, so differences are not just tolerated but appreciated.

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in me and I am in You. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that You have sent me. I have given them the glory that You gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and You in Me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved me." John 17:20-23
 

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12

Ask God to design prayer cooperation and take actions where the body of Christ must work cooperatively so people will see and note: "Look how they love each other!" Pray for that same love to be extended to people with different worship styles and charismatic or non-charismatic beliefs.

Pray for God to bless in the developing a prayer canopy over San Mateo County and the 10 Counties of the Bay Area (expanded to 12 with adjoining cooperative counties) for "Light The Bay 2" August 24-28.

Ask God to bless in His call to establish continuous 24/7 prayer over San Mateo County. He wants His people and this place to become a "House of Prayer" (Isaiah 56:7) for all nations (ethnic groups). Ask Him to raise up intercessors who will make commitments to pray during a weekly time slot and for those to administrate and lead. He wants us to "raise up David's fallen tent" (Amos 9:11, Acts 15:16) of worship, praise and intercession. Please pray for such worship and praise and prayer meetings to be established area wide.
