Background: The Mayor of San Francisco has proclaimed September 2 as the official anniversary day to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the “Summer of Love” and reclaim what it launched. Golden Gate Park where the Summer of Love was launched 40 years ago with what was then called the Human Be-In gathering. The gathering was originally announced with a "Call to Gather ALL the Tribes." This gathering on Sept. 2nd will include remnants of the 1960's movement that will come to re-release the spirits of that day. They include representatives from: Country Joe McDonald, The Doors, The Doobie Brothers, and Santana.

A Call to Prayer:This gathering to re-claim the culture of S.F. along with the Mayor’s Proclamation needs to be responded to in prayer in a way that counters the proclamation with truth and seeks to bless the next generation with a true outpouring of Love. This would include a response of forgiveness, blessing the next generation, and declarations of God’s true purposes. Mayor Newsom’s Proclamation itself gives a focus on the areas which need attention. Mayor Newsom’s Proclamation is given below in Six Parts in the blue print. They are each followed by a Prayer Response and Forgiveness. This Call to Prayer was prepared with input from the S.F. House of Prayer and a number of other prayer leaders in the North State. This will also be submitted to senior pastors and ministry leaders in San Francisco.

The Blessing of San Francisco’s Redemptive Gift.
San Francisco, we declare you are a city of light and mercy. We call you forth today into your destiny and purposes of God. You were founded as a Mission to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the inhabitants of the land. Therefore, we declare an alignment to this purpose of God. You are missionary city full of the love and mercy of Jesus pouring out to the broken and downtrodden. San Francisco, you were named after Saint Francis of Assisi who turned away from a life of indulgent pleasures and fleshly excesses, and chose to embrace a life of mercy, love and power in the Holy Spirit. San Francisco, go forth to the nations in the power of the Holy Spirit. Spread the gospel of the kingdom, heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead and let the redeemed of the Lord in San Francisco rise up and proclaim this as ‘the favorable year of the Lord’ for light and truth to go forth to all generations. (Luke 4: 18)


MAYOR GAVIN NEWSOM'S PROCLAMATION – 40th ANNIVERSARY (CHRISTIAN PRAYER RESPONSE IS LOCATED UNDER HIS STATEMENTS)

BE SURE TO PRAY THE PRAYER RESPONSES!
The people of prayer in San Francisco and California hereby intercede and proclaim into heavenly places that the portions of MAYOR GAVIN NEWSOM'S PROCLAMATION that are contrary to the Word of God, and whose actions are disallowed in heaven, are disallowed in San Francisco and California and will not spread to the U.S., and to the world. We loose what is lawful in heaven to S. F., CA, the U.S., and the world. (Matthew 16:18) We forgive Mayor Newsom, the occultists, the musicians and attendees for their participation and any words and/or actions that are contrary to the Word and Will of the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray they will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. (Ephesians 1: 16-19)

We declare that Jesus Christ is Lord over San Francisco and California and that He is redeeming them and loving the people into the Kingdom of God.

MAYOR NEWSOM’S PROCLAMATION (IN BLUE BELOW)
Each of the Mayor’s Proclamations are followed by a Prayer Response:

Whereas, the Summer of Love in San Francisco is internationally recognized as the birth place of the 60's revolution that ignited a spiritual awakening that swept the world;
Prayer Response: We repent for the rebellion loosed against God, our parents, the government and society. We call in proper protocol, respect, honor, and governmental order.
Forgiveness: Lord, we forgive those who in ignorance or rebellion embraced a false spiritual awakening which brought about deception and bondage to the youth of that day. We come asking for a true spiritual awakening based on an outpouring of Your true love and power.

And Whereas, The Summer of love began with small gatherings in Golden Gate Park during the 60's and developed into an international movement of personal, artistic and environmental renaissance, celebrating awareness and performance arts through spiritually oriented outdoor events;
Prayer Response: We repent for the drug use and for accepting the 'false fire' and false religions. We welcome God's Holy Spirit and we loose God's renaissance of new life, new art, music, inventions and ideas to the world.
Forgiveness: Father, we forgive those who taught our youth that they could find spirituality apart from knowing you. We repent of a culture that seeks the worship of self as its highest aim. We ask you to bring about true knowledge which comes from to the truth and the fear of God.

And Whereas, The Summer of Love gave birth to a new music that became the epicenter of the music industry's creativity, known as the "San Francisco Sound"
Prayer Response: We repent for the drug, sex and rock and roll culture that spread throughout the nation and world with the new ‘S. F. Sound.’ We loose a new song and the new wine of God!
Forgiveness: Lord, we forgive those who embraced a sound of worship which welcomed other gods into our culture. We invite you to send a heavenly sound of worship throughout our land so we can join the angelic host in a new sound for this day.

And Whereas, the Summer of Love, was the beginning of a worldwide Pro-Peace Movement, promoting principles of love and freedom inspiring many movements to follow, such as Woman's Liberation, Sexual freedom, Environmentalism, and Spirituality
Prayer Response: We repent for women rising up over men in rebellion, for allowing abortion in the name of personal freedom, for worshipping the environment over the Creator, and for spiritually running after other gods. He/she who Christ sets free is free indeed! In the name of Jesus we loose freedom to the captives.
Forgiveness: Father, we forgive those who worshiped creation which resulted in opening doors to vile passions and idolatry. We acknowledge You as our Creator and that You are worthy of all worship and praise. May we know and live a true holy freedom that honors the intimacy You designed to be shared between men and women.

And Whereas, The Summer of Love purveyed the concepts of peace, love and anti-war associated with San Francisco and the 60's generation and the principles from this culture spread nationally furthering the concepts of brotherhood and good will, ultimately helping to end the Vietnam War
Prayer Response: We repent for trying to make our own utopia, and following after the peace of man over the peace of God. We loose God's covenant relationships, and the One New Man which Christ brought to bring true untiy.
Forgiveness: Lord, we forgive those who led our youth into rejecting their parents and dishonoring them through rejecting their values through open rebellion.

And Whereas, The Summer of Love stands for these principals: truth and individual freedom, freedom of expression, honoring those who refused to fight yet honoring those who did, creativity, love and respect for all things, honoring our planet by respecting mother earth, and our right to think independently, now think independently.
Prayer Response: Father, we repent for not recognizing and honoring the original stewards of this land, and the reason for which You placed them here.  We ask you to bring real restoration of relationship and a yoking together in Your eternal purposes, that we might all partake of Your fullness. We repent for our independent thinking that rises up through our own intellectualism over the counsel of God. We release God's counsel and truth that comes from a fear of the Lord which will put creation in right relationship to the Creator.
Forgiveness: Lord, we forgive those who released counterfeit truths proposing to give freedom which led to bondage and rebellion. Teach us to honor you in a way that leads to thinking which seeks not its own ends but exalts you in all he earth.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I Gavin Newsom, Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco, do hereby officially proclaim Sunday, September 2, 2007 as... SUMMER OF LOVE 40 TH ANNIVERSARY DAY In San Francisco!
